From 7 to 24 August, FRANKFURT WESTSIDE once again became a vibrant hub of activity: WESTSIDE SUMMER – the neighbourhood’s official summer programme – transformed the banks of the Main in Griesheim into a place for socialising, culture and creativity for the third time. Set against the backdrop of an old loading crane and stunning sunsets, with views across the River Main, over 10,000 guests enjoyed a varied programme – featuring live concerts, an open-air cinema, yoga sessions, children’s workshops, stand-up comedy, a vintage market and a curated wine festival.

Open-air cinema: WESTCOAST CINEMA

A particular highlight of WESTSIDE SUMMER was the WESTCOAST CINEMA – Frankfurt’s largest open-air cinema – which brought the summer to life with eight open-air film nights under the stars. The programme featured modern classics and arthouse highlights, including “Barbie”, “Back to Black” and “Perfect Days” – all shown in their original language with German subtitles.

Four days of festival atmosphere: WESTCOAST FESTIVAL

But that’s not all: from 14 to 17 August, the summer programme was expanded to include the WESTCOAST FESTIVAL, transforming FRANKFURT WESTSIDE into a vibrant festival site. The open-air event had everything the heart and feet could desire: Mind Enterprise set the mood with their sunny Italo sound, MISS CONTROL & JENNIRAE (GG VYBE) brought the beats to the turntables, Hamburg’s wild rap collective BANGERFABRIQUE got the crowd going, ALYZAH exuded soulful R&B vibes, ANA TIJOUX brought Latin American energy to the stage – and the finale was crowned by IAMDDB, who fused jazz, trap and neo-soul into a unique sound.

On Saturday and Sunday, the festival site became a place for people of all ages: yogis got their day off to a flowing start with Anna Herz in the morning, children played football with football legend Saki, whilst wine lovers discovered top regional winemakers at the VDP wine festival. Flea market treasures, vintage design, food trucks and laid-back tunes invited visitors to explore and linger, Hood Comedy had everyone in stitches, and the animated film “Flow” rounded off WESTSIDE SUMMER with a cinematic moment that lingered long after the credits rolled.

FRANKFURT WESTSIDE: A place that brings people together

Thanks to WESTSIDE SUMMER, WESTSIDE once again became a vibrant community hub – for the residents of Griesheim, culture lovers from across the region, visionaries, business partners and simply anyone who wanted to make the most of the summer. Thank you for coming!
