6 Open-Air Movie Nights & the Magic of the Main Riverbank

Back by the river. Back with the grandstand. And above all, back at this unique location where a single movie night is enough to make it unforgettable. This year, we’d like to show you six films that have stayed with us – because of individual moments, outstanding performances, a car chase that made movie history, and a gap that inspires.

ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER

Who’s kicking things off this year?
At least we’re not taking it easy: We’ve got the spectacular Oscar-winning film ready for you in its original version with subtitles. Look forward to Leo in a bathrobe, the best cell phone charging scene of all time, and the most breathtaking car chase in film history. Plus, Benicio del Toro dances in his inimitable style on the side of the road, and Sean Penn… well, okay… he just does his ‘performance of the century’ thing. A ‘must-see’ movie—breathless, extremely suspenseful, wild, and at times strangely very entertaining!

Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, USA 2025, 162 minutes, Rated 16+, Original version with German subtitles

Admission, drinks and food from 7 pm, film starts around 9 pm if it is dark enough.

BLOOD & SINNERS

A Taste of Freedom

This genre-bending masterpiece tells a gripping, innovative, combative, and tender story of gangsters, racism, hungry vampires, and style-defining R&B, hip-hop, and blues in the Southern United States. And yes: Michael B. Jordan in two roles – a performance you’ll never forget!

Directed by Ryan Coogler, USA 2025, 138 minutes, Rated 16+, Original version with German subtitles

DIRTY DANCING

“You’re not seriously going to show ‘Dirty Dancing’ again this year, are you?”
Lift, watermelon, dance floor, tree trunk, the time of our lives! Well, yes, actually, we’re always going to show ‘Dirty Dancing’! It’s a feeling. A heartbeat: “Gagum, gagum, gagum.”

Directed by Emile Ardolino, USA 1987, 96 minutes, Rated +12, German version

LOST IN TRANSLATION

We’re Lost in WESTCOAST CINEMA!
… if there were only one movie you could take with you to a desert island … or to the Griesheim coast … or wherever. Everything is in this film: youth and growing older, lethargy, melancholy, a sense of new beginnings, courage, longing, exuberance, doubt… the camouflage T-shirt, the pink pants, whiskey and karaoke, Charlotte and Bob, a kiss, us and the world. “More Than This”!

Director: Sofia Coppola, USA/Japan 2003, 97 minutes, Rated: 6+, Original version with German subtitles

Admission, drinks and food from 7 pm, film starts around 9 pm if it is dark enough.
