Open-air cinema | Don’t Worry Darling

Closed

To close this terrific outdoor cinema season at WESTCOAST, we ask Florence Pugh and Harry Styles to join us on the shore. Due to the filming, which was dominated by scandals, rifts and separations, the actual film unfortunately took a bit of a back seat. And completely unjustifiably so! What remains? An outstanding ensemble of actors, dreamlike images that you absolutely have to see on the big screen and a mood that constantly oscillates between suspense, thrill, sexiness, “Mad Men” aesthetics, feminist power and a pleasant pinch of self-irony. The 1950s idyll sketched out here, in which men dream of housewives, has in any case rarely been more cleverly questioned, reflected upon and so radically torn down in film history. The better “Barbie”, if you will. Burning Down the Dollhouse, Darling!

Don’t Worry Darling, Director: Olivia Wilde, USA 2022, 123 min., Rated 12+, Original version with German subtitles.

Admission, drinks and food from 6 p.m., film starts at 8 p.m.
