Ruben Östlund’s bitter, hilarious and wonderfully absurd satire about the rich and beautiful on a luxury yacht was the success of the past cinema year. “Triangle of Sadness” won all the relevant prizes in the film world (including the Palme d’Or in Cannes and the European Film Award) and the hearts of the critics and the audience along with it. But what exactly had we just seen? Is it the funniest film in a long time? The most provocative, the meanest, the crudest, even the most liberating? It simply combines everything in one, combining comedy, criticism and an outstanding ensemble of actors in a way that is certainly a matter of taste. Just like excessive oyster slurping, by the way. In any case, three things are certain: cinema has rarely laughed louder. Woody Harrelson as the captain is a revelation. And: You’ve definitely never been on a voyage like this in the cinema. Come on board!
